One morning I woke to this wild premise for the book I am now seeking to have traditionally published. To say I was excited is an understatement – I was inspired by the thoughts that kept invading my mind, and I couldn’t wait to start writing them into a novel. I began by just researching names for my characters. I had no idea what these two characters would actually do in this dystopian world where technology had grown from the seeds of today’s headlines.

I wanted the names to have a meaning that would reflect the characters. “Kaya” means “rock” in Persian, and I knew I wanted her to be a strong, rather stubborn character. Biblically, “Eve” means the first woman: secularly, it is the shortened form of evening. I wanted to use the name Eve because I have a son named Adam and another named Evan. Eve seemed to me to in some abstract way to honor both my sons. Can you see the connection I was making?
